How to Start an Access Committee

1) Develop a 12 month activity plan…topics include
Identify access needs in your district
Deaf alcoholics
Home bound or hospital bound alcoholics
Loner alcoholics
Wheelchair users
Blind alcoholics
Online meetings
Workshops/gatherings

2) Become part of Intergroup and District meetings
Keep groups informed of access progress
Hand out GSO pamphlets and guidelines

3) Cooperate with Intergroup and District
Assist in printing meeting schedules
Develop an Access Volunteer 12 step list
Involve all service committees

4) Establish a prudent reserve
Encourage donations from groups and AA members
Hand out self addressed envelopes
Make policy on how to disperse funds

5) Get groups to host ASL meetings to spread awareness
Make one person responsible for hiring interpreter and scheduling.

6) Involve Oregon Area
Keep delegate and chairperson informed on activity
Work in cooperation with other area service committees

7) Keep GSO informed on progress and methods used
Email and letters to GSO Attention: Special Needs
Connect with other area/intergroup/district access committees
Request access/special needs information
